The prospect of the Utah Jazz winning their 10th straight game got tougher on Wednesday, as the team announced Donovan Mitchell will be out after entering the NBA’s concussion protocol.
The team said Mitchell started experiencing symptoms of a concussion Wednesday morning. It is not clear when he may have been concussed, as there were a couple of potential incidents Tuesday night in the Jazz’s 108-94 win over the New York Knicks.
Under the NBA’s concussion protocol, if a player is formally diagnosed, he cannot return to play the day of the diagnosis or the day after.
Mitchell scored a season-low nine points on just 3 of 15 shooting against the Knicks. Following Wednesday’s contest at Vivint Arena, Utah will face the Mavericks again on Friday night at home.
