On Dec. 20, the Utah Utes basketball program announced that its game two days later against the Arizona State Sun Devils was postponed because of a positive COVID-19 test within the program.

Last week, it was announced that the game would be made up on Feb. 2 in Tempe, Ariz., but rather true to form during the pandemic, the schools jointly announced on Friday morning that the contest has once again been postponed.

No specific reason was given this time, with both schools saying in their announcements that the postponement was made “after coordinating with the Pac-12 Conference.” Both teams are still scheduled to play on Saturday, with Utah primed to face Colorado and Arizona State on tap to meet Stanford.

Both teams have had numerous games postponed, making their February schedules tight, although there is an open window from March 1-6 for contests to be made up before the Pac-12 Tournament is scheduled to be played in Las Vegas.

The Utes have a record of 6-7, while the Sun Devils are 5-8.

A short time after the men’s team announced its postponement, the women’s team announced that its Friday contest against the 11th-ranked Oregon Ducks in Salt Lake City has been postponed because of COVID issues within the Oregon program.

The Ducks’ game on Sunday against Colorado has also been postponed as the program pauses all activities.
