The BYU Cougars football team will have an opponent from Florida on their schedule for the foreseeable future.

The Cougars announced on Tuesday morning that they have extended an existing series with the South Florida Bulls through the 2023 season.

After facing each other in 2019 for the first time (a 27-23 USF win in Florida), the teams were not slated to play each other even on BYU’s original 2020 schedule before the pandemic began, but did have a contest scheduled for this year at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo.

Tuesday’s announcement put games on the schedule for 2022 and 2023, with locations alternating from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay in 2022 to Provo in 2023.

The Bulls have been a solid Group of Five program over the last decade or so, although they struggled to a 1-11 record in 2020.
