Another day, another new commit to Utah State.

Two days after Orem High’s Chase Tuatagaloa committed to join Blake Anderson’s program in Logan, Northridge High’s Maximus Fonoti-Maikui has declared that he, too, will be joining the Aggies.

Fonoti-Maikui announced the news Saturday morning via Twitter, expressing his thanks to family and friends as well as the USU coaching staff.

A member of the 2022 class, Fonoti-Maikui is a 3-star recruit, per 247 Sports (Rivals does not include him in their database) and is rated the 33rd-best overall recruit in the state of Utah.

Listed at 6-3, 185 pounds, Fonoti-Maikui played at both outside linebacker and quarterback for the Layton Lancers last season. Prior to that, he played for the Northridge Knights and he’ll be returning to Northridge for his senior season.

As a sophomore in 2019, Fonoti-Maikui racked up a team-high 77 tackles and three sacks for the Knights, according to the the Deseret News’ high school sports database.
