Utah native Tony Finau won the Northern Trust Open on Monday, beating Cameron Smith in a playoff to secure his first PGA Tour win since 2016.

“So excited to be the Northern Trust 2021 champion. To all those that are fighting to get through and break through in victory, I’ve waited over five years for my second victory,” Finau said in a video posted on the PGA Tour’s Twitter page. “But it’s well worth the wait. Keep persevering, keep believing in yourself, believing in your team and victories will coming your way.”

Finau’s win set off celebrations among the Utah sports community, with Jimmer Fredette, Kyle Whittingham, Donovan Mitchell and more chiming in to congratulate Finau.
