The Big 12 Conference has crafted a “Big 12 Eats” menu for its men’s and women’s basketball championships, and it’s honoring newcomer BYU with a decadent dessert.
No, it’s not a “Cougar Tail” donut. It’s churros stuffed with caramel and topped with candy.
“Cosmo’s Churros (are) caramel-filled churros topped with sweet cream drizzle, mini marshmallows, cinnamon sugar and toffee crumble,” the conference explained on X, the site formerly called Twitter.
Big 12 Eats
This year’s “Big 12 Eats” menu is the second such menu put together by the Big 12.
Last year’s menu featured items such as the Baylor Float — made with Dr. Pepper and vanilla ice cream — and the (Texas) Longhorn Quesadilla.
The Big 12 aimed to kick the menu “up a notch” this year, according to its thread on X about the special food items.
In addition to Cosmo’s Churros, Big 12 basketball fans will have a chance to try:
- The Big 12 dog, which is a foot-long hot dog with ketchup, mustard, cabbage slaw, black sesame seeds, onion, spicy cheese sauce and orange peppers.
- Baylor Brisket Sliders, which features Dr. Pepper glazed brisket.
- Cincy Cheese Coney, which is a jumbo hot dog topped with Cincinnati-style chili, onion and cheese.
- Shasta’s Brisket Tacos, which honor Houston fans.
- ISU Green Chili Pork Walking Taco, which comes in a bag of Doritos.
- Big Jay’s Loaded Mac & Cheese, which includes pulled pork, crispy fried onion bits and BBQ sauce.
- Powercat PB&J, which is a fried PB&J with powdered sugar sprinkled on top.
- Oklahoma Onion Burger, which is a hamburger topped with fried onions.
- OSU’s Orange Power Pizza, which is a personal pizza topped with multiple types of meat, two types of cheese and a drizzle of ranch.
- Citronaut Float, which features orange soda and vanilla ice cream. It honors UCF.
- Cowtown Loaded Tots, which have purple, TCU-themed sour cream on top.
- Big Bertha Loaded Baked Potato, which is topped with smoked brisket, among other items.
- The Masked Rider Burger, which is a cheeseburger with an onion ring, jalapeños and bbq sauce on the patty.
- Mountaineer Pepperoni Roll, which includes mozzarella cheese.
Big 12 basketball championships
The Big 12 women’s basketball championship begins Thursday and lasts until Tuesday, March 12. It’s taking place at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.
- BYU is the No. 10 seed and will first play on Friday against No. 7 Kansas.
The Big 12 men’s basketball championship is also in Kansas City this year. It begins Tuesday, March 12, and lasts until Saturday, March 16.
