There have been tons of reactions since the news broke Saturday night that the Dallas Mavericks were trading superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, but a uniquely hilarious one came from a Utah native and former BYU star.

Kyle Collinsworth, the NCAA’s all-time leader in career triple-doubles, played in 32 games for the Mavericks during the 2017-18 NBA season, just months before Doncic was drafted (Doncic was selected by the Atlanta Hawks and immediately traded to the Mavericks for fellow draftee Trae Young).

On Sunday, Collinsworth took to X and quipped, “I played for the Dallas Mavericks ‘let’s tank for Luka team' All that work for them to just trade him away like this!! My hard work feels undervalued and wasted now!! 😂”

In Collinsworth’s 32 games with the Mavericks (including two starts), he averaged 3.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists in exactly 15 minutes per contest as the team finished tied with the Hawks with the third-worst record in the NBA at 24-58.

Following Collinsworth’s time with the Mavericks, he played for the Salt Lake City Stars of the NBA G League and two different teams in Japan through the 2022-23 season.
