Provo (1-0) capitalized on a strong first half to secure a 27-14 victory over Green Canyon (0-1). The Bulldogs jumped out to a 17-0 halftime lead, highlighted by a 96-yard touchdown pass from Gehrig Orchard to Crew DeMartini in the first quarter. Provo furthered their advantage early in the third quarter with a 29-yard field goal by Spencer Shuman. Green Canyon’s Carter Perry made a solid effort for the Wolves with two touchdown runs, including an 8-yard scamper in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit. Provo sealed their win with a 22-yard touchdown connection between Orchard and Teave Brown in the fourth quarter.

Orem 42, Granger 12

Orem dominated Granger in a nonregion matchup, cruising to a 42-12 victory in the season opener. Orem’s Tayden Ka’awa was instrumental, throwing for four touchdown passes, including a 49-yard strike to Mack Ellison in the third quarter that extended the Tigers’ lead to 35-6. Defensive prowess from Orem kept Granger in check, as the Lancers managed only 12 points, both on touchdowns from Bobo Kofe and Sunia Fifita. West Field 48, Taylorsville 0

West Field (1-0) opened their season with a dominant 48-0 win over Taylorsville. Quarterback Easton Eilertson threw four touchdown passes, including a 42-yarder to Jaden Fowers and another to Kolt Abbott. Fowers had a standout performance, also completing passes for extra points and catching a 28-yard touchdown. Boston Kap contributed significantly on the ground, scoring two rushing touchdowns, one from 82 yards out, late in the first quarter and another in the fourth quarter. The Longhorns’ defense shut down the Taylorsville offense, resulting in a shutout victory for West Field.

Lone Peak 49, Crimson Cliffs 14

Lone Peak dominated Crimson Cliffs in a nonregion clash, claiming a decisive 49-14 victory. Lone Peak jumped to an early lead with Arami Ka’ili’s 3-yard touchdown run and a fumble recovery touchdown by Toatele Afu, both in the first quarter. Crimson Cliffs managed two second-quarter touchdowns through Jaxson Holt, but Lone Peak responded swiftly with two Cruz Christensen touchdown passes to Kennan Pula, including a 61-yard bomb. Lone Peak’s offense continued to roll in the second half, adding two more scores in the fourth quarter with Cruz Christensen connecting with Jaron Pula and Ka’ili scoring again. Tate Barney also contributed an 8-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, rounding out a high-scoring affair for the Knights.

Salem Hills 30, Sky View 28

Salem Hills secured a narrow 30-28 victory over Sky View in a nonregion game, kicking off their season on a high note. Salem Hills overcame a 14-6 deficit after the first quarter, with Ryder Hales leading the charge. Hales connected with Peyton Higginson for two touchdown passes and scored on a 5-yard run, including the decisive touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. Sky View’s Xander Stokes made three trips to the end zone, including a late 3-yard run putting the Bobcats (0-1) ahead briefly, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win.

Herriman 27, Bountiful 7

Herriman secured a 27-7 victory over Bountiful in a nonregion matchup, highlighted by a strong defensive performance and big plays. Troy Ellermeier opened the scoring for the Mustangs with a commanding 80-yard interception return touchdown in the first quarter. Although the Flyers rallied with Riker Muhlestein’s 74-yard touchdown reception from Deacon Virgin in the third quarter, Richfield responded with a steady performance. Justin Raisor’s 22-yard field goal and Colton White’s 8-yard touchdown run gave the Wildcats a 17-7 lead going into the fourth quarter. Richfield sealed the game with Aiden Olsen’s 11-yard touchdown pass from Cordon White with 4:40 remaining. Despite a late 80-yard touchdown from Tano Anzalone, Dixie couldn’t overcome the deficit.

Murray 39, Uintah 38

Phil Holland led Murray (1-0) to a thrilling 39-38 overtime victory against at Uintah. Holland’s 2-yard touchdown run with 1:28 remaining in the third quarter and his crucial 39-yard touchdown pass to Belal Muckhtar at 6:31 in the third quarter were key moments for the Spartans. Uintah (0-1) tied the game to force overtime when Dace Olsen found the endzone with just over two minutes remaining, but Murray responded with a touchdown in overtime when Holland tossed a 25-yard touchdown to take the lead. Uintah would match the score, but a do-or-die two-point conversion came up short as the Trojans held on. Woods also threw for multiple scores, including a 23-yard strike to Romeo Garcia and a 40-yard pass to Christofer Lambar. Despite Uintah’s late surge, the Spartans held their ground in the extra period to secure the narrow win.

Hurricane opened their season with a dominant 27-0 victory over Virgin Valley, Nevada (0-1) in a cross-state matchup. The Tigers set the tone early, scoring 14 points in the first quarter. Bradley Rose put Hurricane on the board with a 45-yard fumble recovery, followed by a 22-yard touchdown run by Austyn McRoberts. Brody Jacobs added to the score with a 12-yard run, while Conner Clyde capped the first-half scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run just before halftime. The Tigers’ defense held Virgin Valley scoreless throughout the game, securing an impressive shutout to start the season.

Kanab 45, Emery 20

Kanab (1-0) showcased a formidable defensive performance in their season opener, defeating Emery 45-20 in a nonregion game. The Cowboys capitalized on turnovers, with Lattimer Glover and Degan Swapp returning interceptions for touchdowns in the third quarter, helping Kanab build a commanding lead. Brogun Virostko connected with Ozzy Williams for two touchdown passes, while Hayden Gubler also contributed two rushing scores for Kanab. Emery (0-1) managed to score through a Beau Stilson early run and a late touchdown by Mikel Ilijic, but their efforts were overwhelmed by Kanab’s defense. Kanab jumped to a 20-point first-quarter lead, effectively setting the pace for the rest of the game.

Pine View 51, Manti 45

Pine View opened their season with a high-scoring 51-45 win over Manti in a game marked by explosive offensive plays. Levi Shaw led the Panthers with five touchdown passes, including three to Brock Harris, who opened the scoring with a 76-yard catch just over a minute into the game. Manti’s Stone Mortensen had three touchdown receptions, two of which came in the fourth quarter as the Templars (0-1) tried to mount a late comeback. Corbin Yocham also had an impactful performance for Pine View, scoring two receiving touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in the second half. Despite Manti’s efforts, including an 80-yard touchdown pass from Ty Pringle to Carter Anderson early in the game, Pine View’s early lead held up.

Desert Hills 24, Faith Lutheran, Nev. 21

Desert Hills opened their season with a dramatic 24-21 cross-state victory over Faith Lutheran, Nevada (0-1) following a last-second field goal. The Thunder, who trailed for most of the game, rallied in the second half, partly due to Beau Meredith’s 30-yard touchdown reception from Max Brownstein with 8:44 remaining in the fourth quarter. Isaac Andresen also contributed with a 9-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter. Faith Lutheran controlled much of the game until Hayden Porter’s decisive 38-yard field goal as time expired.
