The 2025-2026 high school boys basketball season gets underway this week with the official start of the season on Tuesday. To prepare fans for the upcoming season, the Deseret News has put together capsules for every team in 3A. Every coach was invited to participate and submit information.
The region rankings are based on coaches preseason projections.
There are six new head basketball coaches in 3A this year: Lyndon Johnson (Ben Lomond), Dane Pollock (Manti), Jordy Dye (Union), Jaren Jeffery (Delta), Brady Welburn (Juab) and Alex Losee (Providence Hall).

Region 12

Coach comment: Morgan basketball has talented players with a great work ethic, great character, positive leadership and a sincere care, belief in and concern for one another. Coach comment: The one advantage we have this year is depth. We have seven players returning who got a lot of varsity minutes from last year. The other players didn’t play last year due to injury, but they will provide a lot of good energy and some shooting when we need it. We had a great summer, and I saw a lot of great things. This year should be better than those in the past. This group of kids plays well together and gets along on and off the court.
4. Union Cougars

Coach comment: Union will not have a lot of returning experience after graduating eight seniors last year. Our new group challenged last year’s seniors every day and are excited to prove they belong. They have had success in their previous years. We anticipate having a very balanced and evenly distributed offensive attack. Point guards, Compton Anderson and Davin Brotherson, will be able to create offense for themselves and teammates Ryan Oakey, Ridge Olsen, Bo Earl, Brennen Mecham and Tyson Marx.
5. North Sanpete Hawks
