A BYU opponent from this past season is now transferring to Provo.
Stanford offensive lineman Zak Yamauchi is joining the Cougars.
Yamauchi appeared in eight games for the Cardinal as a freshman in 2025 and made three starts. Against BYU in Week 2, he played one snap on special teams.
A product of Bishop Gorman High in Las Vegas, Yamauchi served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints prior to enrolling at Stanford.
The 6-foot-5, 325-pound Yamauchi is BYU’s first offensive line addition of the transfer cycle and will compete to help fill the void left by graduating seniors Weylin Lapuaho and Austin Leausa at guard.
In addition to Yamauchi, the Cougars have added Oregon receiver Kyler Kasper and USC tight end Walker Lyons out of the portal.
Washington offensive lineman joins the Cougars
After securing the commitment from Yamauchi earlier in the day, the Cougars continued their additions in the trenches by signing Washington offensive lineman Paki Finau.
Finau, a redshirt freshman, played in 12 of Washington’s games and started at left guard in four contests.
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Finau was on the field for 426 snaps in 2025, earning an overall Pro Football Focus grade of 61.3 this season, including a 72.7 pass blocking grade.
The addition of Finau will help fill out the Cougars’ offensive line room.
Utah State offensive lineman stays in the Beehive State
BYU rounded out a day focused on the offensive line by signing Utah State’s Jr Sia.
The 6-foot-5, 325-pound Sia, a former three-star recruit, redshirted his freshman season in 2024 with the Aggies and did not appear in any games during 2025.
