The 2025 season provided plenty of memorable moments for BYU football fans.

Now, there are numbers to back it up.

On Thursday, BYU released its 2025 BYU Football Impact Report, which covered last season’s TV viewership, attendance, on-field performances and even concessions.

Here are 10 numbers from the report that illustrate the 2025 BYU football season.

In 2024, BYU played in the most-watched college football bowl game outside the College Football Playoff with 8 million viewers watching BYU defeat Colorado 36-14 in the Valero Alamo Bowl.

It was BYU’s most-watched game.

The Cougars eclipsed that number twice in 2025 — first in the Big 12 Championship game (8.99 million) and then in the 2025 Pop-Tarts Bowl (8.7 million).

How many people watched BYU football on television in 2025?

85,519

Over 85,000 fans filled AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to watch BYU’s rematch against Texas Tech in the Big 12 championship game — 85,519, to be exact.

That’s almost 30,000 more fans in attendance than the 2024 Big 12 championship game between Arizona State and Iowa State, according to the report.

80,000

One of the greatest stories of the 2025 BYU football season came off the field as fans tried to provide hope after tragic accidents.

A few weeks before BYU and Texas Tech played each other for the first time last season, Maddie Ortiz, the wife of Texas Tech’s team barber Ivan Ortiz, was critically injured in a car accident.

BYU fans found the Ortiz family’s GoFundMe, and within a day, the donations went from $6,000 to $63,000, as the Deseret News previously reported. That number then jumped to $80,000 later that day, according to the report.

As of Tuesday, Feb. 3, nearly $195,000 was raised for the Ortiz family, well beyond the fundraiser’s initial goal of $25,000.

Texas Tech fans repaid the favor before the Big 12 championship game by donating to the fundraiser for Gavin and Katie Cornia, who were also involved in a severe car accident.

Katie Cornia was airlifted to the hospital but Gavin Cornia, a devoted BYU fan, died at the scene. Texas Tech fans helped raise over $110,000 for Katie Cornia, per the report.

70,143

In 2025, BYU sold 70,143 of its iconic Cougar Tails at BYU football games.

All lined up, that’s equal to “going from sea level to the top of Mount Timpanogos eight times,” according to the report.

BYU also sold its millionth overall Cougar Tail last season.

BYU fans’ charitable giving continued through the Cougs Care tailgates at road games.

The 2025 season saw 26,500 BYU alumni and fans team up to donate over “32,000 pounds of food, 8,000 books, $5,000 in monetary donations and hundreds of coats and pairs of shoes,” according to the report.

BYU freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier was the 15th quarterback in school history to have a 3,000-yard passing season.

Bachmeier’s 2025 season was also the 26th season a BYU quarterback threw for 3,000 yards. Bachmeier is the second BYU true freshman to do so.

He was one of 37 FBS quarterbacks with 3,000 passing yards and one of 28 with 3,500 yards from scrimmage. Out of those 28 quarterbacks, Bachmeier was the only true freshman.
