BYU has added a big name to its 2027 recruiting class.
Jeremiah Williams, a four-star defensive lineman out of California’s Tustin High, has committed to the Cougars, he shared Thursday. The news was first reported by Rivals.
Williams is rated as the No. 27 player in the state of California and No. 37 defensive lineman nationally by 247 Sports. He chose BYU over the likes of UCLA, Arizona State, North Carolina, Colorado and other notable Power Four programs.
As a junior this past season at Tustin, Williams recorded 67 tackles with 24 tackles for loss and five sacks. During his sophomore campaign in 2024, he notched 10 sacks.
Williams has also logged carries for Tustin, scoring 10 touchdowns over the past two seasons and averaging more than seven yards per carry as a junior.
Along with Williams, BYU’s 2027 commits are Las Vegas running back Ezra Sanelivi and Mountain Ridge High athlete Tytan DeJong. Williams is the first four-star pickup for the Cougars in the class, giving Kelly Poppinga his first such high school recruiting win as BYU’s defensive coordinator.
