Ogden and Morgan emerged victorious in Monday’s 3A boys soccer semifinals, setting up yet another championship showdown between the top two programs in Region 12.

Remarkably, all four semifinal teams hailed from the same region, further proving Region 12’s dominance this season.

Ogden punched its ticket to the title match with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Logan. The Grizzlies struck first when Jase Pingree made a brilliant move around the goalkeeper after a perfectly threaded pass from midfield slipped through multiple defenders.

Even after beating the keeper, Pingree still had to finish through three Ogden defenders, handing the Tigers just their second deficit of the entire season.

“My seniors are pretty experienced and they know, you know, how to deal with adversity as comes with the experience and just proud that they were resilient, just stayed relaxed, and then came back,” Logan coach Todd Scott said.

The lead, however, was short-lived.

Only six minutes later, a defensive turnover gave Zeke Snow a clear path to goal, and he buried a powerful shot into the back of the net to even the score at 1-1.

Late in the first half, Ogden found the breakthrough. Jace Rodriguez delivered a beautiful cross that found Harry Hoskins waiting at the back post. The ball dropped dangerously in front of the net, where Snow was in perfect position to tap home his second goal of the match and give the Tigers the lead for good.

“I saw Jace cross the ball, I saw Harry on the back post. I knew he was going to get something on it, so I knew I just had to be on the goal line to follow it in and about staying composed,” Snow said of his second goal.

He continued on which goal felt better: “Definitely taking the lead. Taking the lead was it was awesome. It felt great.”

From there, Ogden’s defense — one that has surrendered just eight goals all season — took over. Logan created a few dangerous chances, including a prime opportunity from 15 yards out in the 50th minute, but 2025 3A Playoff MVP Xavier Peregrina came up with a tremendous save to preserve the advantage.

“I like to read their offense, but help my defense as well. I make them shift over and almost like force them to do a certain play. And if my defender makes a mistake, I know where the opening is, and that’s how I was just ready for the save,” said Peregrina of his big save and the overall strong play by his defense.

The Tigers continued to apply offensive pressure throughout the second half, though several offsides calls kept the score unchanged. When the final whistle sounded, Ogden had secured its 42nd consecutive victory.

In the second semifinal, Morgan got its revenge against Ben Lomond with a commanding 3-0 win. The Trojans had struggled against the Scots earlier in the year, suffering a road loss and needing penalty kicks to survive the home rematch, but Monday’s performance left no doubt.

Morgan opened the scoring in the 11th minute when an awkward cross slipped through the goalkeeper’s hands. Daxton Noss charged in and calmly tapped it home for the early advantage.

“I saw Trace (Henderson) was one-on-one and chipped it over, and I was there,” Noss said. “The right place, the right time to finish it.”

Just three minutes later, the Trojans struck again. Trace Henderson sent a perfect pass from the corner of the box into the six-yard area, where Parker Grow finished to double Morgan’s lead.

“For us, the second goal to go up 2-0 is huge, because we’ve had a lot of a lot of big games this year, a lot of tough games. It seems like when we’ve played those games, we’ve gone down early and had to claw our wave back into a game and never really been able to just sit and manage a game. So the 2-0 lead was huge for us. The 2-0 lead early, let the boys get some confidence and let them breathe just a minute, and say, ‘Okay, we got this,’” said Morgan coach Jesse Henderson.

The Trojans’ defense remained dominant throughout, shutting down every Ben Lomond attack. Henderson later added an insurance goal in the closing minutes, sealing the 3-0 victory and sending Morgan to its fourth straight championship appearance.

Now, the stage is set for the third consecutive 3A state championship meeting between Morgan and Ogden. The Tigers have won the previous two finals and will be chasing a third straight title.

Ogden also claimed both regular-season meetings this year, winning 3-2 on the road before surviving a 2-2 result at home that they won via shootout.

The 3A State Championship match will be held Monday, May 11, at Zions Bank Stadium.
