The Utah Royals extended their unbeaten streak to 10 games, the longest in team history, following a 2-2 draw on the road against the Portland Thorns on Saturday.
The match marked a clash between the then-No. 1 Royals and the No. 2 ranked Thorns in both teams’ final matches before the June break.
Portland’s Olivia Moultrie scored the first goal of the match in the 20th minute.
But Utah’s Kiana Palacios scored the equalizer right before the end of the half, marking her second goal in as many games.
Cloé Lacasse gave Utah the lead in the 49th minute with a goal of her own.
In the 90th minute, Portland tied the match after a successful penalty kick from Sophia Wilson.
Going into the season break, Utah Royals FC sits second in the NWSL table behind San Diego Wave FC.
The Royals resume play and the team’s hunt for its first-ever playoff appearance on the road against the Chicago Stars on Sunday, July 5 at 3 p.m. MT.
