Davis Darts’ Bode Sparrow had a busy recruitment period. He held offers from over two dozen Power Four schools and received significant attention from college coaches during a trip to Hawai’i.

Sparrow narrowed down his choice to four schools in May: Oklahoma, Oregon, BYU and Utah.

Finally, the anticipation is over. Sparrow announced his commitment to Oklahoma on Friday.

“Not an easy decision,” Sparrow said. “I think in the end, what it came down to was what my gut told me. I think I need to be here at Oklahoma.

“I think I just get excited when I think about Oklahoma. Playing at the highest level, playing at Georgia, at Alabama and that’s just who I’ve always been. I’ll be the best, and I want to play the best. That’s just what’s got me excited to go play for Sooner Nation.”

Sparrow is listed as a four-star recruit on both 247Sports and ESPN. He is also the highest-rated recruit in the state, and is listed as the seventh-best “athlete” in the 2027 class on 247Sports.

The 6-foot-2 senior was one of the best two-way players in the state last season. As a receiver, Sparrow averaged 102 receiving yards per game. He totaled 1,218 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.

Throughout his first three years of high school, Sparrow has totaled 42 receiving touchdowns. That 42-touchdown mark is already seventh best in state history, and he has another year to keep rising in the ranks.

He was also elite in the secondary for Davis. Sparrow tied for second in the state with seven interceptions on the year, two of which he returned for touchdowns. He also earned Deseret News 2026 6A Player of the Year honors in his junior season.

Sparrow had his fourth and final visit in Provo with BYU last weekend, and he had the week to mull over his options.

Despite strong pulls from in-state schools Utah and BYU, Sparrow said the level of competition in the SEC with Oklahoma was hard to turn down.

“Obviously, BYU is great, and even Utah and even Oregon,” Sparrow said. ″It truly was a hard decision. I have really good relationships with all of them.

“Obviously, it’s convenient with them being close and in-state. These are all people who would be able to see me. But, I think in the end I needed to do what’s best for me, and I needed to go where I can be the best version of myself.”

Orem’s Krew Jones, who is another top recruit and Oklahoma commit, was not shy about sharing that he was pushing Sparrow to follow him to the Sooners.

“He’s been hitting me up the last little bit and I didn’t want to tell him,” Sparrow said. “I probably knew like a day or so ago, and I let it be a surprise for him.

“He and all the commits at Oklahoma have just been great about reaching out to me, making me feel the love. I’ve been their last piece of the whole puzzle. I’m fired up, and I’m sure he’s fired up.”
