The Utah Mammoth have acquired winger Joshua Roy from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for defenseman Maksymilian Szuber.

Roy, who turns 23 before the season begins, scored 23 goals and 45 points in 57 AHL games last year with the Laval Rocket. He has 38 NHL games under his belt with the Canadiens, and earned six goals and 11 points in that span.

Szuber is a 23-year-old defenseman who stands at 6-foot-3. He has been a key part of the Tucson Roadrunners’ defensive corps the last three seasons, but with so many good, young defensemen in Utah’s system, he didn’t necessarily have a lane to the NHL.

Roy had a similar situation in Montreal. He joins two familiar faces in Salt Lake City: Dylan Guenther and Sebastian Cossa; both won gold with him in separate World Juniors tournaments.

In fact, it was Roy who set Guenther up for the golden goal in 2023.
