The 2026 high school girls soccer season gets underway next week for teams in Class 5A and throughout the state. To prepare fans for the upcoming season, the Deseret News has compiled capsules for every team in 5A. Every school was invited to participate and submit information.
The region rankings are based on coaches’ preseason projections.
There are seven new girls soccer coaches in 5A this year: Ruben Gutierrez (Cyprus), Clarissa Everrett (West Jordan), Kennley Bradley (Roy), Jordyn Roth (Skyline), John Morris (Viewmont), Rob Ure (Woods Cross) and Brynlie Mellor (Maple Mountain).

Coach comment: After a successful 2025 season, West High Girls Soccer enters the upcoming fall looking to build on the momentum the program has created over the past two years. My first season in 2024 was focused on getting to know the players, resetting the team culture, establishing expectations, and laying the foundation for our game model, tactical approach, and playing principles. In 2025, everything took the next step, as the team’s growth, commitment, and belief translated into a 10–9 overall record—the program’s most wins since 2011, its first state playoff victory since 2011, a third-place finish in Region play, and an eight-spot improvement in the state rankings to earn the No. 17 seed.
Although we graduated 11 seniors, we are excited about the talented young core returning this fall. Many of the players who helped establish the program’s new culture as underclassmen are now stepping into leadership roles, and we believe they are ready to continue raising the standard and build on last season’s success.
