Each week, the Deseret News collects high school football stats from around the state, with approximately 85% of the coaches submitting their offensive and defensive stats.

Here’s a look at some headliner performances from Week 1. Also check out the Deseret News’ complete sortable leaders feature for offense, defense and special teams.


Class 6A

Jaxon Hunt, Mountain Ridge — Completed 24-of-46 passes for 385 yards and four TDs in leading the Sentinels to an impressive 41-26 season-opening win over Skyridge.

Diesel Dart, Corner Canyon — Only had four offensive touches in Corner Canyon’s 51-14 win over Davis, but made the most of them. He caught two passes for 123 yards and two TDs, and then scored another TD on one of his two rushing attempts.

Filisi Filipe, Herriman — Workhorse carried the ball 27 times for 276 yards and three TDs in powering the Mustangs to a 25-14 season-opening win over Bountiful.

Cam Wren, Lehi — Hauled in seven receptions for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns in helping Lehi take care of business in Week 1 with the 35-13 win.


Class 5A

Nixon Warren, Spanish Fork — Monster outing in the wild 64-62 triple-overtime loss to Spanish Fork as he hauled in 10 catches for 267 yards and five TDs.

TJ Tuha, Timpview — Had a big game on the ground as he rushed the ball 17 times for 123 yards and three TDs as Timpview pulled away from Layton for the 40-21 victory.

Howie Howard, Roy — Went over the century mark with 102 yards rushing to go along with his three TDs in helping the Royals roll past Taylorsville in the opener 54-7.

Joe Hughes, Salem Hills — Grabbed four passes for 116 yards and two TDs and added another touchdown on the ground during Salem Hills’ comfortable 41-7 win over Granger.


Class 4A

Tye Paskett, Ridgeline — Enjoyed a dominant game defensively as he recorded 15 tackles and two sacks in Ridgeline’s 42-28 win over Morgan.

Brady Muir, Mountain Crest—Completed 22-of-26 passes for 393 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for a touchdown in leading Mountain Crest to the 49-0 win over Deer Creek.

Coy Doman, Pine View — Outstanding starting debut for the sophomore as he completed 28 of 46 passes for 450 yards nad four TDs in leading the Panthers to the 44-28 win over Manti.

Parker Olson, Snow Canyon — Huge performance in the 64-62 triple OT win over Spanish Fork as he threw for 402 yards and five TDs and also rushed for 73 yards and two more scores.

Sam Allen, Green Canyon — Tallied 11 tackles and three sacks to spearhead the Wolves strong defensive performance in the 10-6 win over Provo.


Class 3A

Carter Bell, Grantsville — Senior running back carried the ball 22 times for 147 yards and two touchdowns in helping the Cowboys rallying from an early deficit for the 30-20 win over San Juan.

Cordon White, Richfield — Helped engineer a great offensive performance in Week 1 as he passed for 117 yards and two scores and then also rushed for another score — one of five different ball carriers to score for Richfield — in the easy 62-20 win over Dixie.

Easton Favero, Logan — Got hot in the fourth quarter, throwing for two TDs and rushing for another — the last with 17 seconds remaining — as the Grizzlies rallied past Summit Academy for the 25-21 win.


Class 2A

Jesse Clegg, South Summit — Caught seven passes for 158 yards and a TD as the Wildcats opened the season with an 18-13 win over Duchesne at Snow College.

Bodey Shurtz, Delta — Was a standout on both sides of the ball in Delta’s 29-26 win over Juab. Offensively, the QB carried the ball 14 times for 61 yards and three TDs, including the go-ahead TD late in the fourth quarter. Defensively he intercepted three passes.


Class 1A

Justin Kimmerle, Grand — Threw for 388 yards and seven touchdowns in leading Grand to the 53-38 win over Water Canyon in the season opener.

Grady Anderson, Kanab — Completed 9-of-10 passes for 294 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for another TD as the Cowboys beat Emery 47-13.
