Here’s a look at some headliner performances from Week 5. Also check out the Deseret News’ complete sortable leaders feature for offense, defense and special teams.


Class 6A

  • Jackson Carruth, Corner Canyon — Enjoyed a big day on the ground with 14 carries for 128 yards and three touchdowns in Corner Canyon’s dominant 52-7 win over Eastwood, Texas.
  • Paden Toula, Davis — Completed 28 of 39 passes for 335 yards and five touchdowns in leading Davis’ rout of Olympus, 47-14.
  • Hendrix Cluff, Lehi — Returned two second-quarter punts for touchdowns which proved to be the difference as Lehi hit the road and beat Weber 28-14 in Week 5.
  • Ledger Wright, Syracuse — Led the way in Syracuse’s 28-7 win over Alta as he completed 19 of 28 passes for 260 yards and four TDs to four different receivers.

Class 5A

  • Kenyon Shockey, West Jordan — Completed 13 of 26 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning TD pass late in the game to Halen Warner as the Jaguars rallied past Cyprus 21-17.
  • Siaosi Toki, Springville — Impacted both sides of the ball in Springville’s 34-8 win over Pleasant Grove as he caught eight passes for 147 yards and a touchdown and then defensively he returned an interception 91 yards for another TD.
  • Liam Fresques, Northridge — Was instrumental in leading Northridge to the 38-20 win over Preston, Idaho as he passed for 286 yards and four touchdowns, three of which went to Roman Fitisemanu.
  • Carson Wall, Payson — Hauled in 10 catches for 108 yards and two touchdowns in helping the Lions beat Maple Mountain 27-22, their first win in the series since 2010.
  • Caden Judy, West Field — Carried the ball 18 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning TD late in the third quarter in West Field’s 36-30 win over Bonneville.

Class 4A

  • Landon Woods, Uintah — Passed for one touchdown and then rushed for 181 more yards and three TDs in leading the Utes past Deer Creek 36-14.
  • Carter Buchanan, Pine View — Grabbed six catches for 180 yards and four touchdowns as the Panthers rolled past Dixie for the 69-28 win.
  • Junior Helu, Stansbury — Caught seven receptions for 140 yards and two touchdowns as the Stallions rolled past Bear River for the 52-7 win.
  • Sterling Ostler, Jordan — Led Jordan past Juan Diego for the 34-7 victory as he completed 24-of-29 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns.

Class 3A

  • Trevor Mann, North Sanpete — Was a workhorse as he carried the ball 28 times for 170 yards and two touchdowns in leading North Sanpete past Canyon View 21-13.
  • Robert Rounds, Grantsville — Snagged two interceptions, returning them both for touchdowns as the Cowboys rolled past Juab for the 42-7 victory. He also added seven tackles.
  • Owen Gilson, Morgan — Completed 22-of-38 passes for 306 yards and six touchdowns as Morgan traveled to Nevada and rolled past Faith Lutheran, Nev. 54-36.

Class 2A

  • Beau Yeomans, San Juan — Accounted for seven touchdowns in San Juan’s resounding 58-28 win over South Summit as he passed for four touchdowns and rushed for three more with 356 yards of total offense.
  • Bronx Hunt, Delta — Made the most of his 10 carries in the 24-14 win over Summit Academy as he rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns.

Class 1A

  • Weston Wilkes, Rich — Passed for three touchdowns and then rushed for three more as Rich cruised past North Sevier in a nonregion game, 48-14.
  • Kyson Despain, Duchesne — Carried the ball 29 times for 193 yards and one touchdown in leading Duchesne to the impressive 20-6 win over Enterprise.
