Another mysterious monolith has appeared in the United States — this time in Sin City.
What happened
A 10-foot monolith appeared under the Fremont Street Experience sign in downtown Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
- “It showed up early this morning but we don’t have any other details right now,” said Cassandra Down, with Kirvin Doak Communications, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
No other information has been revealed about the monolith in Las Vegas yet, according to KTNV.

The monolith craze started in Utah
The recent craze over the mysterious monoliths began in Utah, when a team of biologists discovered one in the remote Utah wilderness. Later, monoliths were discovered in Romania, California, England, Pennsylvania (sort of) and the Netherlands.
As I wrote for the Deseret News, we don’t really know the meanings of the monoliths yet. They’ve appeared, and sometimes have been taken down, but we’re still not sure what they mean for our society yet.
“All that to say, we seek out answers to help us to define something as wild or as random as a monolith appearing in the middle of the Utah desert. We may never know the answers, but we want to solve the puzzle. That is the true meaning of the monolith, you might say — a representation of America’s desire to find order and answers at a time of doubt and confusion.”
