A newly released video from police shows Lori Vallow Daybell’s former husband telling police that the Idaho mother had “lost her mind,” according to multiple reports.
The new video — which comes from police in Gilbert, Arizona — displays Charles Vallow (Lori Vallow’s fourth husband) warning police about his then-wife’s behavior.
“She’s lost her mind,” he said, according to KPNX, a local news affiliate in Phoenix
Charles Vallow said in the video that he returned home from a business trip and Lori Vallow locked him out of his house and took his car. He said he couldn’t reach Lori Vallow for two days, either. He said Lori Vallow was dangerous to herself and others, KPNX reports.
Here’s how the conversation goes between police and Charles Vallow, according to NBC News:
- Charles Vallow: “She’s threatened me, to murder me, kill me. She lost her reality.”
- Police: “How does she pose a threat to your children?”
- Charles Vallow: “I don’t know what she’s going to do with them. Flee with them. Hurt them.”
Charles Vallow and police open a door at the home’s garage. No one is inside, KPNX reports.
Police tell Charles Vallow that there’s no criminal situation and they can’t require a mental health check on Lori Vallow, according to KPNX.
Later that day, Lori Vallow went to the police station, KPNX reports. She told officers: ”I told him not to come home.”
The conversation reportedly happened on Jan. 31, 2019. That’s about nine months before Lori Vallow’s two children — Tylee Ryan, 17, and Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 7 — went missing.
Lori Vallow currently sits in Madison County, Idaho, jail facing charges of desertion and nonsupport. She has a bail of $1 million.
Charles Vallow died months later, in July. Alex Cox, the brother of Lori Vallow, allegedly shot and killed Charlies Vallow. Alex Cox died of natural causes in December 2019.
Charles Vallow had filed for divorce “claiming in court documents that his wife believed she was reincarnated and was a god sent to lead people during the second coming of Christ in July 2020. He claimed she told him if he got in his way, she would kill him,” according to NBC News.
Lori Vallow and her current husband, Chad Daybell, are being investigated for murder, attempted murder and conspiracy in the death of Tammy Daybell — the late wife of Chad Daybell.
