A newly-released video shows that Lori Vallow Daybell once said she was a “ticking time bomb” — years before she became the center of an investigation into her deceased children.
What’s going on?
ABC aired a new “20/20” special about Lori Vallow Daybell and the case of her children almost a year after the investigation began.
The episode included a video from the 2004 Mrs. Texas beauty queen pageant, which Lori Vallow participated in, according to People magazine.
- The video shows Vallow — who was then named Lori Ryan since she was married to her third husband, Joseph Ryan — answering questions from judges. One the questions was: “What makes you tick?”
- Vallow answered: “Being a good mom is very important to me and a good wife and a good worker. And being all those things is not easy! So I’m basically a ‘ticking time bomb.’”
Context
Vallow currently sits in an Idaho jail on a $1 million bond. She faces multiple felony charges included felony child abandonment and solicitation of a crime in regards to her deceased children, Tylee Ryan, 17, and Joshua “J.J.” Vallow.
The children’s remains were found in Idaho at her husband Chad Daybell’s property back in June 2020.
More from the special
The “20/20” special also included a clip of April Raymond, a friend of Lori Vallow, who told ABC that Vallow became a “superfan” of Daybell.
- “So Lori had always been a fan of Chad’s books,” she said, refering to Daybell’s doomsday books.
- Raymond said Vallow would talk about Daybell’s work a lot and promote his ideals.
- “I would describe her as a superfan,” Raymond said.
