Brian Laundrie’s mother Roberta Laundrie visited the Fort De Soto Park — a campground about 75 miles away from the Laundrie home in North Port, Florida — in early September, according to public records, WFLA reports.
Roberta Laundrie reportedly checked into “Site 001-Waterfront” from Sept. 6 to Sept. 8, according to records obtained by WFLA.
However, the record does not show whether or not she checked in alone, or with her husband Christopher Laundrie or son Brian Laundrie.
Brian Laundrie is a person of interest in the disappearance and homicide of Gabby Petito, who was reported missing on Sept. 11 after a cross-country road trip with Laundrie. Petito’s body was found in Wyoming on Sept. 19. Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue confirmed Petito died by homicide.
Laundrie was reported missing on Sept. 17 by his family, who talked to police. Last week, U.S. District Court of Wyoming issued a federal arrest warrant for Laundrie for “use of unauthorized access device” after the death of Petito, according to News Nation reporter Brian Entin. The search has continued for Laundrie this week.
Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman recently joined the investigation into the Petito case. He said that he received a tip that Laundrie and his parents went to Fort De Soto Park. According to Chapman, the family stayed at the campground Sept. 1-3 and Sept. 6-8.
He said on the second trip — which was from Sept. 6-8 — only two people left the campground even though all three visited the spot, per The Washington Examiner.
Per Laundrie’s attorney, Steven Bertolin, told reporter Jossie Carbonare that the family went camping. He said the family had reservations from Sept. 1-3 but canceled them. They went from Sept. 6-8, he said.
“The family went camping. The FBI is aware of Brian’s whereabouts well after that camping trip,” Bertolin told Carbonare.
“They were registered, went through the gate. They’re on camera. They were here,” Chapman told Fox News. “We think at least if he’s not here right now, we are sure he was caught on camera as he went in the gate — that he was here for sure.”
Two neighbors of the Laundries, Charlene and William Guthrie, told Fox News earlier in September that they saw the Laundrie family, who they didn’t know well, with a new camping vehicle in their driveway, which they used to go camping.
“I saw them doing some work. And then when they prepared for their trip, I saw them loading the camper,” William Guthrie said.
William Gutherie said it was odd to see the Laundries go with their son in such a small vehicle.
According to the neighbors, the Laundries went on their vacation around the same time that authorities in North Port police started to ask neighbors about Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito.
