Nearly 2,500 sheep from Mantua, Box Elder County were led down U.S. 89 and U.S. 91 to Brigham City toward Corinne on Friday. The sheep drive to their winter pasture has occurred every year since the 1930s. For the past several years, the Jensen family have started the slow journey — their “family heritage” — during the fall school break so children can come out and watch. The family has followed the same route every year, which they say maintains the trail right.

While there was sunshine for the journey Friday, rain and snow are in the weekend forecast for the Wasatch Front. Expect valley rain Saturday afternoon, then rain and snow on Sunday, according to KSL meteorologist Grant Weyman. “There will be some valley accumulation, but higher amounts will be seen in the high elevations, he said, adding that mountains could see between 8 and 12 inches, while Park City and Heber City could get 3 to 5 inches.
