A blood technician prepares the arm of Teresa Renfro, bottom center, for donation Sunday during a blood drive organized to honor Sgt. Cory Peterson on the one-year anniversary of his death. Peterson’s son, Travis Peterson, organized the event in his father’s name to return the favor for the blood his father was given while in the hospital a year ago. Cory Peterson had been receiving treatment for pancreatitis “and several compounding factors” at the time of his death, which the Unified Police Department said was due to “medical-related issues.” Peterson was with the department for 10 years.
