PROVO — Authorities have identified a 6-year-old Provo boy who died Friday after he bounced off a skid loader tractor that his dad was driving to clear the snow near Aspen Grove in Provo Canyon.
Herman Slaughter was hit by the tractor’s scooping mechanism Friday morning and “received significant head trauma,” Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon said Friday. He said the father and a 9-year-old brother who was also riding along attempted to resuscitate Herman, but “his injuries were too significant.”
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We don’t think this was anything other than a tragic accident,” Cannon said.
