SALT LAKE CITY — An agent with Adult Probation and Parole has been arrested and accused of sexually abusing a child.
Jared Marcus Bonkosky, 41, of South Jordan, was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of four counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and sodomy on a child.
Bonkosky is accused of giving a girl under the age of 13 a “full body massage” while the girl’s pants were off on at least four occasions, according to a police booking affidavit.
On Dec. 12, while giving the girl a massage, he also sexually assaulted her, the affidavit states.
“The young girl stated that she began to have a ‘panic attack’ and ‘freak out.’ The young girl also stated that she got mad at herself because she did not do anything about it,” police wrote in the report.
After the incident, Bonkosky “became remorseful, apologized to the young girl, and told her that he had ‘hurt and betrayed her,’” the affidavit states.
He also looked up the possible legal penalties of his actions on his phone, the girl, who is a relative, told police.
“When Jared asked the young girl what he should do, she told Jared that Jared had to tell the other adult that was in the residence what happened,” according to the affidavit.
Police interviewed Bonkosky on Monday and arrested him.
Bonkosky has been with the Utah Department of Corrections for 10 years, according to Corrections spokeswoman Kaitlin Felsted. He was placed on administrative leave as soon as administrators were made aware of the allegations, she said.
