PARK CITY — The Utah Highway Patrol and Park City police are investigating a fatal crash in the Deer Valley area.

The crash happened about 7:30 a.m. on Marsac Avenue, a steep and windy road leading up to ski areas. A Mazda 3 going downhill drifted into oncoming traffic for an unknown reason and sideswiped a vehicle, causing the Mazda to spin sideways, according to the UHP.

Another vehicle heading uphill then hit the Mazda, killing the driver, the UHP stated. The two other drivers — one from Park City and the other from West Jordan -— suffered minor injuries. Investigators do not believe weather or slick roads were a factor, according to the UHP.

According to UHP Lt. Randall Richey, the driver who was killed was a 53-year-old man with an out-of-state license, although he may have a local address. Officials weren’t releasing the man’s name until his family can be notified.
