SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Transit Authority is set to replace rail on two TRAX lines downtown, a project that will affect both riders and drivers the last two weeks of May.

The project on the Green and Blue lines is scheduled to start Monday, May 18, as crews begin assembling the new rail on South Temple.

The road will be closed to eastbound vehicle traffic between West Temple and Main Street until the project is expected to wrap up on Wednesday, May 27. North Temple and 100 South will remain open to eastbound traffic. Parking in the area will be available at the City Creek Center South Temple lot.

Those driving west on South Temple will not be able to turn left on Main Street, and only a single lane will be open between State Street and West Temple. Parking will be available at the City Creek Center State Street lot.

Those driving north on Main Street will not be able to turn left on South Temple but may turn left at 100 South. All additional lanes will be accessible.

Southbound Main Street will be closed between South Temple and 100 South. Drivers can use State Street or West Temple. Those who need to access businesses on Main Street in the area can use the City Creek Center South Temple parking lot.

Crews will begin to lay the rail on the Blue and Green lines on South Temple between West Temple and Main Street, as well as on Main Street between South Temple and 100 South on Friday, May 22.
