MONTICELLO — Police have identified a woman who died in a rollover accident in southern Utah last week.
Stephanie Zimmerman, 38, was pronounced dead after being ejected from a vehicle she was a passenger in, according to a news release from the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office. Two other men, Jared Ehlers, 41, and Clay Cowan, 30, were also injured in the crash.
On June 15, Ehlers was driving a Dodge Ram on West Summit Road roughly 20 miles east of Monticello when he lost control of the vehicle and rolled approximately three times, the release says.
Both Zimmerman and Ehlers were ejected from the vehicle. Ehlers “sustained significant injuries,” the release says, and was flown from the scene to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, after a passerby found the truck and called 911.
Police say Cowan was wearing a seat belt and was taken by ambulance to San Juan Hospital with minor injuries. He was released later that day.
Ehlers was “traveling at an excessive rate of speed,” according to the news release. The incident is still under investigation.
