SALT LAKE CITY — A 12-year-old girl was killed in an ATV accident in Goshen on Monday, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.

Marley Tarango, of Goshen, was on a four-wheeler with two other juveniles about 7:30 p.m. on the shoulder of the road when the accident occurred.

“The 13-year-old driver told deputies as she was driving, the four-wheeler suddenly jerked to the side, causing her friend to fall off. The 12-year-old suffered multiple serious head injuries,” according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Nearby residents tried to assist the girl who was not breathing when they got to her, the sheriff’s office stated. She was flown by helicopter to Utah Valley Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m.

The sheriff’s office said Marley had a helmet with her but was not wearing it at the time of the crash. A 10-year-old was also on the ATV. The other two juveniles were not injured.

On Facebook, a woman who identified Marley as her niece wrote that “Life in the world will never be the same.”

“Marley was unique and such a gem, you knew her, you loved her. Let’s share with her the sunshine of tomorrow and for most remembering all of her beautiful memories because she too is remembering us. Even though her life was taken tragically in an accident, she’s shining her bright star down on all of us, begging us to remain strong. We love you Marley, fly high baby girl!” she wrote.
