Gabe Brodie and Nino Reyos on Sunday unload wood from trees that were toppled in last week’s windstorm at the Urban Indian Center in Salt Lake City. The wood will be taken to the Navajo Nation and given to Navajo elders as part of a firewood drive being sponsored by the center and the Utah Navajo Health System in Montezuma Creek, San Juan County. The nation, which straddles Arizona, New Mexico and a small corner of Utah, has been hit hard by the coronavirus. Wasatch Front residents who lost trees to the hurricane-level winds are invited to take the wood to the Urban Indian Center, 120 W. 1300 South, or Esther’s Garden, 2425 E Heritage Way. Donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Thursday.
