VERNAL — Authorities in eastern Utah say a 25-year-old Ogden woman died when the all-terrain vehicle she was riding veered from a road and plunged 40 feet down an embankment early Sunday.

The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the name of the woman, one of three people in the side-by-side vehicle when it crashed near the Iron Springs campground about 25 miles from Vernal.

The driver and another passenger sustained only minor cuts and bruises in the crash that happened about 1:30 a.m. Investigators believe the vehicle drove off the shoulder of the road, causing it to overturn and roll multiple times.
