PROVO — A Provo man who claimed he didn’t like the way another man was treating his wife now faces a charge of attempted murder.

Josue Emmanuel Villegas-Garcia, 44, was charged Tuesday in 4th District Court with the first-degree felony.

Villegas-Garcia is accused of attacking another man at a Provo gas station on Jan. 12 “because he was mad at how the victim had treated (his) wife,” according to charging documents.

After arguing with the man, Villegas-Garcia grabbed a machete from his truck and hit the victim in the back of the head, the charges state. The victim received a 10-inch wound that required 13 staples to close, the charges state.
