TOOELE — A Tooele man who police believe was driving too fast in snowy conditions was killed and three others critically injured in a two-vehicle crash on Saturday,
Treyton Ellis, 18, was driving a Dodge Ram 2500 on state Route 36 south of Tooele when he lost control of his truck, “hopped the concrete divider” and was T-boned by an oncoming Ford F-150, according to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol.
The Ford was occupied by a husband, wife and three children. The father had to be extracted from his vehicle and driven to a local hospital in critical condition because a medical helicopter was unable to fly due to the weather, the UHP said.
The mother was also transported in critical condition as was one of the children, whose age was not immediately available.
The road was closed for several hours while the crash was investigated.
