The preliminary hearing in the murder trial of Tyler Robinson, accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk, began Monday in Provo, Utah.
Robinson, the man charged in the Sept. 10, 2025, killing, faces several counts, including aggravated murder. The prosecution is seeking the death penalty.
Kirk, 31, who co-founded Turning Point USA, was killed on Sept. 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University, the first stop of Kirk’s “The American Comeback Tour.”
Robinson was taken into custody on the night of Sept. 11.
This week, the Utah County Attorney’s office is expected to bring forward its strongest evidence to prove to the judge that there is enough to establish probable cause that a crime was committed and that Robinson committed it.
If that standard is met, the case moves forward to trial.
