The Cleveland Cavaliers Friday released forward Kent Benson, who was hampered by an elbow injury last season and played in only two games.

Benson, 33, was acquired Oct. 8, 1987, in a three-team, six-player deal that sent Mel Turpin to Utah, and John Bagley and Keith Lee to New Jersey.The Milwaukee Bucks made the 6-foot-10 Benson the first player selected in the 1977 draft. The Indiana University star has played for Milwaukee, Detroit, Utah and Cleveland, scoring an average of 9.1 points in 680 games.
