Oscar-winning actress Mary Steenburgen was awarded an honorary doctorate at Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., a school she left 17 years ago to pursue her dream of acting. She told a crowd of about 350 people Friday that she accepted the doctorate of human letters not as a star but as "a fellow student in life who will continue to dream." Steenburgen, 36, won her Academy Award for best supporting actress in 1980 for her role in "Melvin and Howard."
