The University of Utah is going to build a four-story eye center with a $3.5 million donation to the school by alumnus John A. Moran of New York City.

The John A Moran Eye Center will be constructed northeast of the University Medical Center and will cost more than $7 million. Construction is scheduled to begin within the next year.Moran, a 1954 graduate of the U., is chairman and chief executive officer of the Dyson-Kissner-Moran Corp., a company that has interests in real estate, manufacturing, distribution and financial services. He is also a member of the university's National Advisory Council, serves on the management advisory board for Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company and on the board of trustees for the Brooklyn Museum.

"I can already envision researchers and patients alike from all over the country praising the wonderful work being done at the University of Utah's Moran Eye Center," said U. President Chase Peterson.
