Pitcher John DeSilva, who was named WAC player of the year, led six Brigham Young players who were named to the all-WAC baseball team announced Monday.

In addition, Cougars first baseman Randy Wilstead was named newcomer of the year and Gary Pullins was named coach of the year in the selections made by the league's head coaches.Other Brigham Young players on the first team were: outfielder Burt Call, shortstop Jeff Howes, second baseman Paul Cluff and catcher Brad Eagar.

The remaining first-team players are: outfielder Lance Madsen of Utah; outfielder Billy Miller and third baseman Lance Pinnell, both of San Diego State; and designated hitter John Matias of Hawaii.

In addition to DeSilva, the pitchers were San Diego State's Rob Brown and Scott Freeman of Wyoming.
