Tracy Leslie easily held off a late challenge from David Simko to win the ARCA 500-Kilometer race Saturotorday at Talladega Super-speedway.
Leslie, the defending Permatex Super Car Series champion, completed a sweep of the two ARCA late-model stock car events on the 2.66-mile oval by beating Simko to the finish line by 1.3 seconds.
Bob Studdard, the pole-winner, finished third, a lap behind the leaders. He was followed by Bobby Gerhart and Bobby Bowsher.
Leslie, from Mount Clemons, Mich., led for 89 of the 117 laps. His Pontiac Grand Prix averaged 154.451 mph as Leslie won $14,320.
Leslie, who has six career ARCA victories, took the lead for good when Simko pitted on lap 98 and built a seemingly insurmountable margin of 46.6 seconds. But a late caution flag for a blown engine moved Simko right up on his rear bumper before the green flag came out two laps from the end.
The winner pulled easily away and was not challenged before taking the checkered flag.
There were four caution flags for 18 laps in the race, two of them brought out by crashes.
David Boggs and Clifford Allison, the youngest son of longtime NASCAR driving star Bobby Allison, tangled on the first lap, and Joe Kosiski, Grant Adcox and Red Farmer went out in a wild accident on lap 42.
In the second incident, Kosiski lost control coming off turn two, hit the wall and flipped, spinning, onto his roof. Adcox tried to avoid the spinning car and hit the wall, as did Farmer.
