James A. Byrne has been named managing partner of Price Waterhouse's Salt Lake City office.
In other appointments at the local office of the international accounting firm, Robert M. Mathis was made partner in charge of audit practice and Daniel W. Campbell was promoted to partner in charge of the emerging business service practice.Byrne, who succeeds Kent D. Watson, joined the firm in 1971 and worked in Cleveland and Los Angeles before coming to Salt Lake City. He is a member of the board of directors for the Utah Museum of Natural History, chairman of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce's small business development committee and sits on the editorial board of Utah Business Magazine.
Mathis serves as a director for the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants. He started with Price Waterhouse in 1968 in Seattle and has also worked for the firm in Anchorage.
Campbell joined Price Waterhouse in 1979 and transferred to Salt Lake in July from northern California. He is a trustee for Kids of Greater Salt Lake and has served as a community adviser for Junior League.
