Oscar-winning composer Bill Conti has been appointed music director for the 62nd annual Academy Awards ceremonies to be broadcast March 26.

Conti won an Academy Award for his score for "The Right Stuff" in 1983. He earned a best song nomination for "Gonna Fly Now" from "Rocky" and was nominated in 1981 for the title song from "For Your Eyes Only."It will be Conti's sixth assignment as conductor for the Oscars. He previously was music director for the 49th, 54th, 55th, 57th and 60th academy shows.
