SHARE OVERALL HISTORY OF CARTER & SONS WORKWEAR IS CHARMING

In 1859, the wife of railroad engineer Homer W. Carter hand-stitched a pair of sturdy overalls designed for the rigors of working on steam locomotives.

The twin-fabric overalls wore so well other railroad men began asking for them. So Carter's wife Abigail and her two sons opened a business, becoming the first overalls manufacturer in the United States.Today, after 131 years, H.W. Carter & Sons still makes overalls, jeans and workwear, and each item still carries Homer Carter's original drawing of a steam locomotive.
