Jack Reilly, who helped develop one of the nation's top passing games at the University of Utah, was added Thursday to the San Diego Chargers coaching staff.

Reilly, 44, will be working in a newly created position specifically to help improve the Chargers' passing game, Chargers coach Dan Henning said.Over the last five years, Reilly worked as Utah's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He oversaw a passing attack that led the nation in 1988 (395.9 yards per game) and ranked second in 1989 (338.7 yards).

He also tutored Utah quarterback Scott Mitchell, who passed for 3,211 yards and 31 touchdowns last season. Mitchell is foregoing his senior season to join the NFL.
