The mother of a 5-year-old boy who died last week after suffering severe brain damage caused by alcohol ingestion was arrested Monday and charged with injury to a child.

Patricia Griffin, 31, whose son Raymond Thomas "Tinky" Griffin II died, was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail. She was arrested at the Fort Worth home of her mother, Peggy Price.Griffin is charged with failing to seek immediate medical attention for the child after he became ill from drinking alcohol, said Everman Police Chief Roger Larm.

Police say the child drank the alcohol at a party on Feb. 23. Although the child started vomiting and shaking at 3 a.m. Saturday, medical aid was not sought until an ambulance was called at 2:30 p.m. that day, police said.

If convicted of the third-degree felony, Griffin could serve 10 years in prison and receive a $10,000 fine.

Last week, Anthony Darron Jimerson, 21, of Forest Hill, was arrested on first-degree felony charges of injury to a child. He was arrested after witnesses said he urged the boy to drink 10 ounces of straight liquor at the party in the apartment complex where the child lived with his mother.

Jimerson remains in jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
