Dave Gavitt Wednesday was formally introduced as the new head of basketball operations for the Boston Celtics, following weeks of speculation about whether he would accept the job.
Gavitt, 52, accepted the offer Tuesday. He had been commissioner of the Big East Conference since its inception in 1979."It's time for a new challenge in my life," Gavitt said. "I'm taking a job that I've been given a responsibilty to do and the authority to do."
He said there were no conflicts as far as who's the boss is concerned.
