Police said Wednesday they believe a woman shot to death on I-81 in February may have been the victim of a killer who travels the country shooting people randomly and cited a similar case in Utah.

"It's a very good possibility," Police Chief Tom Stone said. "We have nothing else to go on. Hopefully, we can put things together with other states and come up with something."Stone said police investigators interviewed 150 people in the Feb. 28 death of Tammy Salyer, 18, of Bristol, and came across two highway shootings in Layton, Utah, and a pedestrian shooting in Jacksonville, Fla., that were strikingly similar to the Salyer murder.

In addition, 22 other states reported shootings that were somewhat similar.

"It may be the work of a person who travels the nation and does this with no rhyme or motive," Stone said.
