Carl Albrecht, Garkane Power Association assistant manager, is the newest member of the Sevier School District Board of Education.
He was appointed to fill the vacancy left by Gene Gates, who moved from the area. Other applicants were Ester Rex and Denise Cook.Albrecht will fill the term for the remainder of the year and has filed for election this fall. He served by appointment on the Richfield City Council.
The board member has worked for Garkane for 16 years. He graduated from accounting and business management from the Stevens-Henager Business College and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Southern Utah State College.
A native of Salina, Sevier County, Albrecht has been active in many civic groups. He served as a city councilman for two years and has been chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission. He has worked on the Richfield Independence Day Committee, is captain of the Sevier County Jeep Posse and a member of the Richfield Area Chamber of Commerce. His wife, Gail, is a schoolteacher.
