Looks can be deceiving.
If you don't agree, talk to Elizabeth Olsen, Mrs. Utah in 1983, who will be manager of a new Cover Look business scheduled for opening in the Cottonwood Mall in late September. She is co-manager of The Cover Look in Fashion Place, which opened last March. The Cover Look is a new concept for Utah and was conceived by David Updike, owner of Jaylynn Photography. It combines makeup, glamorous fabrics, fashion accessories and hairstyling with photography to provide a picture Olsen guarantees will be pleasing.
"We pamper people like they never have been pampered before," said Olsen, explaining the clients spend up to 21/2 hours at the studio. The first project is to perfect a person's skin. Next comes the hairstyling and then the wardrobe from the waist up.
The Cover Look has a variety of silks, chiffons and brocades to create wraps that look like elegant dresses. Lavish boas, expensive jewelry, hats and gloves can be selected to make clients look sophisticated, daring, exotic, romantic, flirtatious, alluring, elegant or wildly seductive, said Olsen.
Then it's into the photo studio where 10 glamour poses are taken. Regardless of a person's physical appearance, Olsen said the poses "transform a person's looks from ordinary to beautiful that tells the whole world you are special."
She has several sets of "before" and "after" pictures to prove her point.
The Cover Look isn't exclusively for women either, She caters to men who can wear tuxedos to have their pictures taken alone or with a companion.
Olsen said The Cover Look in Fashion Place has been very successful so far.
